Enzo Maresca targets move for 21-year-old Manchester City midfielder

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is lining up a move for Manchester City midfielder James McAtee according to reports.

Maresca has signed a five year deal at Stamford Bridge with the option for a further year, and will be under pressure to get the Blues back into the Champions League and win silverware.

The Italian guided Leicester City to the Championship title last season, but the step up to Chelsea is huge, let alone for someone with just one full season of senior management experience under his belt.

With a new manager sorted, attention now turns to what is sure to be another busy transfer window, with Chelsea reportedly looking to make four signings.

The Blues are believed to be targeting a goalkeeper, centre back, left back and striker as they look to further strengthen their squad and build on last season’s sixth placed finish.

The club have already agreed a deal to sign centre back Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham, with the 26-year-old expected to be announced as a new Chelsea player this week.

The Sun on Sunday reported that Maresca is keen to make 21-year old midfielder Mcatee one of his first signings.

Mcatee, currently a Manchester City player spent last season on loan at relegated Sheffield United where he scored three goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances for the Blades.

The report adds McAtee could be available for around £20m, and Maresca was believed to want to bring the midfielder to Leicester before he left the club.
