Cole Palmer and Chelsea players finally break silence over Mauricio Pochettino exit from Stamford Bridge

A number of Chelsea players have sent their tributes to Mauricio Pochettino after he mutually agreed to leave the club after less than a year in charge.

The Argentine’s time at Stamford Bridge came to an end on Tuesday following an end-of-season review with club chiefs. It is not thought that there is any bad blood between the two parties.

Pochettino’s exit has sent shockwaves around the footballing world after seemingly turning around the fortunes in west London. After a difficult opening to the season, he led the club to a sixth-placed finish to qualify for the Europa League.

A statement from Chelsea on Tuesday read: “Chelsea FC can confirm that the Club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to part ways.

“Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino have left the club with Mauricio. The Club will be making no further comment until such time as a new Head Coach is appointed.”

Following the announcement, Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk have thanked Pochettino for the impact he has had on their careers. Palmer, who enjoyed the best season of his career to date, wrote: “Gaffer, thank you for everything you have done for me & making my dreams come true. All the best.”

Mudryk added: “Thank you, for everything,” alongside a picture of the pair embracing on the final day of the season. On his Instagram story, defender Marc Cucurella seemed to be particularly shocked by the bombshell news.

Alongside three shocked emoji faces, the left-back wrote: “Thanks for everything Mister. Good luck in the future.” Winger Noni Madueke also posted, saying: “Thank you…”.
