Transfer Stance: Very close as Chelsea have ‘verbal agreement’ over summer transfer as exit stance outlined

With Premier League football ending for another season, it’s now time for the transfer window to take centre stage again as teams put their plans into place.

Throughout the season, teams would have been doing work behind the scenes in the lead-up to the transfer window. This is the time where they hope that it will pay off as Chelsea compete with other teams to try and sign their number one targets.

But the transfer window is not just about incomings; there will also be some outgoings. This could especially be the case for Chelsea, given the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules (PRSs).

Any sales in the summer will raise more funds for potential incomings. Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to continue to add his own stamp to the Chelsea squad.

The Blues have already been linked with several players. So let’s have a look at the latest reports and given our own perspective.

‘Verbal agreement’ over Lukaku

Chelsea have a ‘verbal agreement with striker Romelu Lukaku that he will be sold this summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Lukaku has spent the season on loan with AS Roma but is due to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer, but it seems that his future lies away from Stamford Bridge.

“Chelsea want €45m (£38m) for Romelu Lukaku,” he told GIVEMESPORT . “Their position hasn’t changed since last summer.

“Al-Hilal had a bid for this amount accepted, but Lukaku wanted to stay in Italy. There is no formal release clause, but there is a verbal agreement between Chelsea and Lukaku that he will be sold if someone tables a bid for this amount.

“There remains interest from Saudi, but not from Al-Hilal anymore. The Napoli links could gather pace since their new sporting director Giovanni Manna was the driving force behind Lukaku’s proposed move to Juventus last summer.”

£25m asking price

Chelsea are sticking to their £25 million asking price for defender Trevoh Chalobah this summer, despite the player’s performances in the second half of the season. The club are said to be braced for interest.

The defender turned down a move to Nottingham Forest last summer after the Reds saw a £25 million offer accepted by Chelsea. According to the Telegraph , that fee remains the asking price for Chalobah.

The report adds that the 24-year-old will only be interested in moving to a club that will be fighting for Europe next season. He saw his campaign disrupted by injury but impressed in his performances for Chelsea in the last part of the season, with the side unbeaten in any game in which he started.
