What Chelsea boss Pochettino did with Mason Mount after Chelsea epic late minutes victory over Manchester United

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was spotted meeting briefly with Mason Mount after the full-time whistle on Thursday night.

The Blues recorded a 4-3 win over Manchester United in the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge. A Cole Palmer hat-trick supported by a goal from Conor Gallagher saw Chelsea secure what seemed an unlikely three points heading into stoppage time.

Man United held a 3-2 lead in the 96th minute before Chelsea were awarded a penalty for a foul by Diogo Dalot on Noni Madueke. Palmer dispatched the spot-kick and went on to score the winner less than two minutes later.

Pochettino was joined by the Chelsea players and backroom staff and celebrating after Palmer’s winning goal and at the full-time whistle. As Pochettino made his way onto the pitch, he was also spotted meeting Mount, who featured in the game for Man United.

The pair exchanged a handshake as Pochettino continued to greet the other Chelsea and Man United players on the pitch. Both Pochettino and Mount were, unsurprisingly, having contrasting emotions after the final minutes of the contest in West London.

The game was the first time that Mount had returned to Stamford Bridge since his summer exit from Chelsea, replacing Alejandro Garnacho in the 86th minute. The England international left the Blues to complete a £60 million move to Man United but has struggled with his fitness since his departure.

Mount has only recently returned to action following a calf injury that had kept him on the sidelines for more than four months. The 25-year-old suffered the injury back in November, and only made his return in a cameo against Liverpool in the FA Cup last month.

Since leaving Chelsea, Mount has scored one goal in 15 appearances with his only strike coming last week in Man United’s 1-1 draw with Brentford.
