BBC under attack – Fans furious as BBC cameras miss key Chelsea own goal in FA Cup clash

BBC viewers were left furious after a Chelsea own goal was missed while replays were being shown on screen.

The Blues stormed into a 2-0 lead against Leicester City in their FA Cup quarter-final clash on Sunday and came close to making it three.

But as BBC cameras showed a replay of the missed opportunity, Chelsea defender Axel Disasi fired a ball to his keeper Robert Sanchez, beat him, and hit the back of his own net.

The BBC director cut back to the action to catch the ball rolling across the line, but everything that happened in the build-up was missed – prompting fury from viewers on social media.

“Once again the obsession with showing replays for non-incidents results in something significant being missed. Disasi disaster,” wrote one viewer on Twitter/X.

Another asked: “Can the TV director please resist the urge to show replays whilst the game is still going on?”

A third said: “Can TV companies stop showing numerous replays please while the match is going on? Can’t be the only one that gets annoyed by this.” And a fourth: “What’s the fascination with broadcasters showing replays when the action is clearly underway again? Useless.”
