Chukwuemeka reveals Cole Palmer prediction after FA Cup win amid four-word Chelsea claim

Carney Chukwuemeka has revealed what Cole Palmer told him before he netted a huge goal for Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City. The 20-year-old, after making his return from a four-week injury absence against Newcastle earlier this week, was again brought on from the bench and this time his impact was huge.

After Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer had put the Blues in front, they were quickly pegged back with Axel Disasi netting a calamitous own goal before Stephy Madvidi thumped in an equaliser. In the late stages of the game, with the Foxes down to ten men and penned in, Chukwuemeka broke through the backline and slotted home following a superb pass by Palmer.

Following the victory, with Noni Madueke adding a fourth, Palmer and Chukwuemeka were interviewed with the latter revealing the stunning prediction made by Chelsea’s talisman ahead of the clash. “I enjoyed it,” he told BBC Match of the Day. “Coach [Pochettino] said ‘just go on and do what we know you can do, express yourself’, and that is what I did.

“Obviously I’ve got to thank my boy Cole for the one-two. To be fair before the game he said to me he was going to assist me if I come on, so fair play to him.” Another two-goal contributions for Palmer has taken his tally to 28 with Chukwuemeka a big fan of his teammate.

“Yeah, 100 per cent, he is that type of player,” Chukwuemeka replied when asked if he knew Palmer would find his run behind the Leicester defence. “His IQ is amazing, he knows the game and I knew as soon as I played it to him and made that run he was going to find me no matter what. So creds to him.”

Following his goal off the bench, Chukwuemeka took to Instagram in the wake of the game ending with a clear message. After reposting Chelsea’s post celebrating the win, he wrote: “Can only be God.” Chukwuemeka has now given Pochettino a number of decisions to mull over during the international break.

Chelsea are back in action on Saturday, March 30 when they welcome Burnley to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League clash. A strong display from Mykhailo Mudryk could also place him in contention, with Enzo Fernandez set to return after serving his one-match ban, while Madueke also made a noticeable impact.
