Mario Melchiot admits he’s been impressed by this ‘dangerous’ Chelsea star who isn’t afraid to dribble

Chelsea star Cole Palmer, has left a lasting impression on a lot of people since moving to Stamford Bridge last summer.

The 21-year-old has surpassed expectations at Stamford Bridge after making that £40m switch from Manchester City in search of regular game time.

After 23 matches in the Premier League this season, the attacker has picked up an impressive 19 goal contributions for his new club, with 11 of those being goals.

Palmer’s latest goal came as Chelsea edged out Newcastle 3-2 at home on Monday night, restoring the Blues’ lead after Alexander Isak had cancelled out Nicolas Jackson’s flicked opener (assisted by Palmer).

Mykhailo Mudryk later added a third goal for the Blues on the night to make sure of the win, and it proved to be an important strike, seeing as Jacob Murphy later pulled another goal back for the Magpies.

Cole Palmer impressed many with his star performance from earlier this week, with former Chelsea defender, Mario Melchiot now hailing the talented attacker as a fearless player, who is always ‘dangerous’ with the ball on his feet.

“He comes into a team that is not that confident… The way he is playing… He has no fear. He doesn’t think about anything. He picks the ball up anywhere he wants,” Melchiot told ESPN.

“If he wants to dribble, he dribbles. If he wants to do something else, people believe in his ability. I think that is one of the key things for him.

“…Where he picks up the ball he’s dangerous.”

Melchiot is not the only man who was impressed by Palmer on Monday night. The Chelsea man was also named ‘Man of the Match’ against Newcastle, and included in the BBC Team of the Week by Garth Crooks.
