Cole Palmer was arguably Chelsea’s best player, as the Blues beat Newcastle United 3-2 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The 21-year-old again, carried the team on his back, providing some very important contributions that led Chelsea to the win.

Palmer assisted Nicolas Jackson’s opener after six minutes, albeit inadvertently, before grabbing his own goal in the second half.

With the goal and assist, the attacker has now made a total of 19 goal contributions for Chelsea in the Premier League alone this season (25 across all competitions). Out of the league tally, 11 are goals, while eight are assists.

The tally is also higher than the combined goal contributions of Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz for Chelsea last term (nine for sterling, eight for Havertz), even with 11 games still to be played this season.

Additionally, according to Squawka, no player aged 21 or under across Europe’s top five leagues has been directly involved in more goals than Palmer. The Englishman is level with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham on 19.

Cole Palmer is also the only player in the Premier League to have scored and assisted a goal in five different matches this season. His closest rivals are Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), who have done the same in a game less.
