Embarrassing as Chelsea drop points at the Gtech

Big disappointment as Chelsea drop points at the Gtech

Chelsea and Brentford played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Gtech Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It was an entertaining game for the neutrals, but Chelsea fans will be disappointed to have dropped two points in this London derby away at Brentford.

In fact, Chelsea were close to leaving the Gtech with zero point, had Axel Disasi not powered in a strong header late on.

Chelsea had a dominant first-half, with Nicolas Jackson scoring the opener in the 35th minute – a fine headed goal from a Malo Gusto cross.

Brentford started the second-half on fire, and five minutes after the restart, the scores were level.

Brentford would continue to press, as Chelsea’s wing-backs were now pressed in their own half. The Bees scored their second following a stunning overhead kick from Yoane Wissa in the 60th minute.

Mauricio Pochettino made some changes shortly after, but it was when he left playing a back five that Chelsea started to show their potential. Disasi’s 83rd minute goal levelled the scores, and Raheem Sterling had a brilliant chance to make it 2-2 shortly after, but was denied by a brave goalkeeping.

Both sides ended up sharing the points, but Pochettino will know that his team should have gotten the three points, had they been braver.
