Axel Disasi, Sterling and Gusto shines as Chelsea hold Manchester City to a 1-1 draw

Chelsea are back into the top half of the Premier League after playing out a 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Saturday evening.

The Blues, looking to make it three consecutive wins across all competitions, took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute after a devastating counterattack that saw Raheem Sterling finish a pin-point pass from Nicolas Jackson into the far right side of Ederson’s goal after beating Kyle Walker on the left of the post.

City threatened to equalise a few times before the break, but were denied by Chelsea’s great defensive setup, with Axel Disasi, Malo Gusto and Levi Colwill all particularly impressive throughout the evening.

The Blues also came agonisingly close to increasing their tally in the second half, but it wasn’t to be, and instead, it was the hosts that found an equaliser through Rodri with just nine minutes of full time remaining.

With this result, Chelsea are now back up to 10th on the log, and will take plenty of confidence from their performance against Manchester City, as they prepare to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final next weekend.
