Hope Alive: French star hands Chelsea transfer hope over a possible transfer to Stamford Bridge

French star hands Chelsea transfer hope over a possible transfer to Chelsea

Jean-Clair Todibo has given Chelsea hope over a possible transfer to the Premier League this summer after admitting he may be on the move sometime in the future.

The 24-year-old defender is regarded as one of the most talented young centre backs in Europe, having helped Nice to second in the Ligue One table with just 11 goals conceded from 20 matches this season.

Only in January, Todibo attracted interest from a host of clubs in Europe, including Chelsea and Manchester United, who were both said to be plotting a move for him before Nice insisted he wasn’t for sale.

However, despite Nice’s insistence on keeping the defender, Todibo will be expected to join a much bigger club later this summer after recently admitting things could change at the end of the season, even if at the moment, he is completely focused on helping the French club finish the campaign strongly.

Asked about a potential move away from Nice, Todibo said: “I am at Nice and we’re having a great season.

“I don’t have my head elsewhere. If I did it would be difficult for me personally and for the group too.

“I feel really good at Nice. We’ll see what happens in the summer but we’re not there yet.

“I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I don’t want to give false hope. For now, I’m here at Nice.”

“Football moves quickly, you never know what’s going to happen. I’ll wait until the summer to make my decision,” he added.

“If my decision is to stay, I’ll announce it, if it is to leave, I’ll announce it too and I’ll thank everyone, but we’re not there yet.”
