Chelsea now considering signing in-form Wolves player after 4-2 defeat to Wolves
Chelsea are reportedly pondering a move for one Wolves player, following the defeat to Gary O’Neil’s men on Sunday.
The Blues were hammered 4-2 at Stamford Bridge by a spirited Wolves team that outplayed the hosts on their home turf.
Cole Palmer gave Chelsea the lead after 19 minutes of play, but that lead didn’t last long, as the visitors equalised through a Matheus Cunha strike that got deflected off Axel Disasi, and was later given as an own-goal.
Cunha would later score another goal to make it 2-1 to Wolves before halftime, and two more in the second half to increase their lead to 4-1, even though Thiago Silva pulled one back for Chelsea.
Cunha was expectedly named ‘Man of the Match’ for his heroics, but it was Pedro Neto that pulled most of the strings for O’Neil’s side on Sunday.
The Portuguese picked up an assist against Chelsea during their defeat at home, and mustered four shots at goal, despite playing for just 72 minutes.
The winger has also scored twice this season, while garnering an impressive eight assists for Wolves after being involved in just 14 league games.
Chelsea are now said to be readying a bid for Neto, which would likely happen in the summer, if there is any truth to the rumours.
The player is just 23, which means that he falls into the category of players that the current Chelsea owners like to bring to the club, except that we’re not sure exactly how he would fit in, judging by the fact that there already seems to be a good number of wingers at Stamford Bridge right now.
