Mauricio Pochettino’s job no longer safe after recent disaster at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are now seriously considering cutting Mauricio Pochettino lose, following the club’s latest Premier League result.
The Blues were on Sunday afternoon handed a 4-2 defeat by Wolves at Stamford Bridge, despite taking a 19th minute lead through Cole Palmer.
A goal from Matheus Cunha, and an own goal by Axel Disasi turned the tie in favour of Wolves before half-time, while Chelsea were booed off into the tunnel by fans at Stamford Bridge.
The second-half saw Chelsea threaten to equalise a few times, but it wasn’t long before they lost steam, and allowed Cunha to get two more goals, and make it 4-1 to his side. Thiago Silva scored a late consolation effort for the Blues, but it was too late for a comeback, as the visitors climbed above Chelsea into 10th on the league table.
It was the second time that Chelsea were beaten heavily inside just four days, after losing 4-1 against Liverpool last Wednesday, and TEAMtalk is now claiming that Pochettino’s job is on the line, and the 51-year-old may get sacked as a result of his side’s current form.
Pochettino was appointed last summer to help Chelsea rebuild their team after they finished 12th in the league last season, but in hindsight, it seems the decision may have been the wrong one after all.
