Sporting Director Slams Chelsea’s ‘Shameful’ Decision Regarding 25-Year-Old Player

Mathieu Bodmer, who is the sporting director of French club Le Havre, has spoken out about Chelsea and their treatment of Malang Sarr.

The defender is an outcast at Cobham, and a deal was apparently agreed to terminate his contract so he could join Le Havre before the transfer deadline this week.

But at the last minute Chelsea seem to have gone back on their deal – at least that’s according to Bodmer.

“It is shameful what they did to him,” the sporting director said in quotes picked up by Caughtoffside. Sarr had apparently flown to France and done a medical before Chelsea changed their mind.

We’re not really sure what Chelsea were thinking here, and we’d love to know more. Sarr is just a lingering problem at the club, and the sooner they get rid of him the better for all involved.

They’re not going to get a transfer fee, nor are they ever going to use him. So why not just let him go and tick a problem off a long list?

There may well be a good reason, but we’re at a loss for what it might be.
