Manager Thomas Frank sends message to Chelsea over their interest in £100m striker

Brentford boss, Thomas Frank has warned Chelsea that the club will always have the final say on whether or not a player gets to leave, despite Chelsea’s well-documented interest in Ivan Toney.

Chelsea, among a number of other top Premier league clubs have been keeping tabs on Toney, with Chelsea linked with a January swoop for the 27-year-old.

The 27-year-old had been away from competitive football for almost a year after he was handed an eight-month ban by the Premier League for his involvement in betting activities.

Since his return in mid-January, Toney has scored in the two games he’s played in for Brentford, including the 3-2 defeat against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

It is believed that Chelsea, along with rivals, Arsenal and Manchester United still hold an interest in the England striker, and may make a move to sign him in the summer, but his coach, Frank has made it abundantly clear he may not be going anywhere after all.

“Happy? Yes, but I was pretty sure as I said from the beginning that Ivan will stay with us so I was not worried about that,” Brentford boss Frank said about Toney.

“In general, it is nice to know what you are working with so in that situation, yes [I am happy].

“At the end of the day we decide if they leave or not.”

Toney, who scored 20 goals for Brentford last season, is reportedly valued somewhere around £100m.
