Mauricio Pochettino’s big half time decision tells you how unhappy he was with Chelsea
Liverpool were very good in the first half against Chelsea, but the Blues were also very bad, both collectively and individually.
Mauricio Pochettino looked furious on the sideline, and he has responded as we thought he might, with big half time changes.
He brought on Malo Gusto, Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk for Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Conor Gallagher to try and change things around after a first half that could have been 3-0 easily.
Of course, in each of these cases injury could be involved, we can’t rule that out. But given who has come off, it looks like a triple tactical switch to us. Gusto and Nkunku were probably going to come on after an hour anyway, so it’s just an extra 15 minutes for them.
We’re not sure how this leaves us tactically, perhaps with Benoit Badiashile playing at left back? Or in a wing back setup? We will soon know once the players set up for the second half.
