Striker Swap That Spells Trouble for Chelsea and the Other Side

Baffling Striker Swap That Spells Trouble for Chelsea and the Other Side!

TeamTalk’s report on Chelsea’s striker plans makes an interesting – and rather unlikely sounding claim.

In a piece about Karim Benzema where they conclude the striker won’t be coming to Chelsea, they note that the Blues are still interested in Jhon Duran as an alternative. That’s nothing new.

However the angle they add is that the Blues might be willing to exchange the Colombian for Armando Broja, their own forward.

This just sounds far fetched. Swap deals are rare in football for a reason, and this hardly seems the most likely to happen. Chelsea want to raise immediate money by selling Broja, who is a home grown asset. Their pressing need is for liquidity, and even if they think Duran has better long term prospects than Broja, their financial issues are more important right now.

As for Villa, they’ve made an investment on Duran and want to see it come good. They’re not going to give up now.
