Ornstein Drops Bombshell as Chelsea set to sign Striker Unfazed by Injury Concerns.

Ornstein Drops Bombshell: Chelsea Eyeing Striker’s ‘Vast Potential,’ Unfazed by Injury Concerns.

We’re now just a couple of days away from the transfer window closing, and things are eerily quiet across the league.

That’s maybe to be expected – but Chelsea were thought to be ready to make some moves this month. One name that’s been linked fairly intensely in recent weeks is Jhon Duran of Aston Villa.

The striker has picked up an injury, which seems like it should kill his prospects of moving this month. But top source David Ornstein doesn’t think so.

He insists Chelsea are big fans of the Colombian’s potential – so much so that they’re willing to overlook his current hamstring problem:

“Duran, 20, is viewed by the west London team as possessing vast potential and they have held dialogue about possibly doing a deal — provided the price reduces to a level they deem fair,” Ornstein wrote in his column today for the Athletic.

“The prospect may be complicated by the ex-Chicago Fire forward being injured, but that does not completely rule out a switch as Duran would be seen mainly as a talent for the future.”

We’re not so sure Chelsea would really chase an injured player, just to sit on their bench. No matter how much they like him.

Then again Ornstein is the best source there is, and if he’s reporting it could still happen who are we to say it can’t?
