Is Anything Wrong? Pochettino addresses Mykhailo Mudryk situation

Mauricio Pochettino has responded to questions about whether there is anything wrong with winger Mykhailo Mudryk right now.

Chelsea were emphatic and clinical against Middlesbrough last night in the League Cup semi final, winning 6-1 on the night.

After winning the second leg, turning over a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, The Blues have now reached the final of the competition.

Mudryk started the game but he got removed at half time. Many fans were left wondering whether he was injured, or whether it was just because he had such a poor performance in those 45 minutes.

I also saw other fans moaning that he bought Mudryk off and didn’t let him try and turn his game around.

However, it was for none of those reasons, Pochettino has confirmed. He actually took him off at half time because he got a booking and was looking a bit rash in challenges, so it was a smart move from the gaffer.

In words cited by Football London, the boss said on Mudryk: “If you watch the game, he got a yellow card. He got a yellow card and then there was an action at the end of the first-half that was too risky, that nearly touched the opponent and get a second [yellow card], and we did not want to take a risk with him. It was an unnecessary risk to have him on the pitch. That is why we changed it.”
