Pochettino suggests injured Chelsea players are set to return to training
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that some of his injured players are on their way back and about to return.
In fact, he says that because they have just reached a cup final, it will motivate the injured players to come back even more and he expects that to happen at any moment now.
His team thrashed Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge last night to reach the final of The Carabao Cup, and this was even after overturning a 1-0 defeat in the first leg.
Chelsea were emphatic and they took their chances, devastating Michael Carrick’s side.
The bench was once again full of young inexperienced players and there was even a debut for academy player Leo Castledine.
This might soon change though with more and more injured players returning and more expected to return now very soon.
In words cited by Football London from Pochettino’s post-match press conference last night, the gaffer said: “I think this is really important for us [to reach a final], of course. We are going to have Fulham or Liverpool – two amazing teams so it is going to be difficult. But now we need to believe that we can win. But I think it’s important step for us because of the confidence and belief in ourselves and then that is going to help because of the motivation.
“So many players are close to coming back to the team. Maybe they are going to look tomorrow and want to train because they see the final is so close.”
