Likely Chelsea XI tonight and Pochettino’s top bench options – Opinion
Mauricio Pochettino’s press conference yesterday cleared up some final doubts, and we’re now ready to reveal our predicted team for tonight’s game against Middlesbrough.
The squad have had 10 days since their last game, including a mini break from training, so freshness shouldn’t be a concern.
Djordje Petrovic will continue in goal, while Malo Gusto’s injury means Axel Disasi will play at right back.
We suspect Levi Colwill will move into the centre to play alongside Thiago Silva, with Ben Chilwell starting at left back, a little risk but important given we’re a goal down in the tie.
In midfield expect the usual Conor Gallagher, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez trio.
Up front, Cole Palmer will play on the right and Armando Broja will lead the line.
The left wing spot is the most open. Raheem Sterling is favourite, but Mykhailo Mudryk’s potential to hurt Boro with his pace will certainly be considered.
Pochettino also won’t hesitate to throw Noni Madueke into the action if we’ve not scored in the first half.
