Benzema under pressure, considers a temporary departure, potentially paving the way for a move to Chelsea
We haven’t taken the rumours connecting Karim Benzema with a move to Chelsea very seriously thus far. There are just too many obstacles to making it happen.
But inch by inch, it does at least seem to be becoming more likely.
Today, the AFP have just released information (presumably leaked by Benzema or the club) relating to his issue with his club in the Saudi Premier League. Al Ittihad are furious with the striker, who returned late from holiday and doesn’t seem that interested in playing for them again.
The forward apparently feels “under pressure” and wants to leave “temporarily.” That sudden makes a loan move to Chelsea for 6 months feel at the very least possible.
Of course the main problems still remain – Benzema will want comically large wages and doesn’t fit the “BlueCo” model in any way as a signing. But could his potential instant impact on the team help overcome that? There’s surely at least a tiny chance.
