He is the best in the transfer market: Liverpool legend tells Chelsea to sign this striker who may be the missing piece

Football pundit, Graeme Souness appears to have suggested that Ivan Toney would make a good addition to either Chelsea or Arsenal.

The 27-year-old is finally set to make his long-awaited return to the Premier League after spending the last eight months on the sidelines due to a betting ban.

According to Brentford boss, Thomas Frank, Toney will be his side’s skipper when they take on Nottingham Forest in a league meeting on Saturday.

Despite not playing for months, the striker has been in the midst of transfer rumours lately, with many outlets linking him with a move to a top English side, especially Arsenal and Chelsea.

Toney himself also recently admitted that he wants to play for a big team where he would be able to compete for trophies regularly— which makes sense considering his age.

And Souness now seems to think that the England international could be a key piece for any of the two London clubs he’s been linked with, if they can manage to get their hands on him.

“I can understand why Ivan Toney is openly declaring he wants to move to a big club now,” Souness told The Daily Mail.

“He’s had to travel down the road a bit in football and wasn’t an instant success. Newcastle had him out on loan for three years. He’s had to work at establishing himself.

“He’s 27 — at the peak of his powers for a striker — and it’s now or never for him. You might say Brentford have looked after him during his ban but they will also get a shedload of money for him.

“I really can’t see them standing in his way — even allowing for their challenging season and the injuries they have. He could be the missing piece for Arsenal or Chelsea, who both need a different type of attacker.”
