No one expected me to adapt quickly – Brazilian midfielder on Chelsea transfer

Andrey Santos has admitted he’s happy with the way he has adapted to life at Chelsea and the Premier League as a whole.

The 19-year-old joined the Blues from Brazilian side, Vasco de Gama last January, and took part in the club’s pre-season engagements where he impressed greatly.

Santos was later sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest, but it didn’t go as planned, after he played just 97 minutes of football there.

He was recalled from the loan move earlier this month, and is expected to join another team for the rest of the season after his involvement in the Pre-Olympics with his country.

“I thank God for the pre-season I had, which was very good for Chelsea,” Santos told Globo Esporte.

“Hardly anyone expected me to arrive and adapt so quickly, with great players, and I’d never played in Europe before. I played some great games against good teams, Brighton, Newcastle.

“As for the conversation with Pocchettino, we preferred to wait for this Pre-Olympic [to conclude] to decide my situation.”

Some reports have also claimed that Santos might end up remaining at Stamford Bridge for the rest of the campaign, especially after news broke that Lesley Ugochukwu recently sustained an injury.
