Raheem Sterling set new EPL record as Pochettino reacts
No player in the Premier League era has won more penalties than Raheem Sterling.
The 29-year-old is a fox in the penalty box, and his penalty helped Chelsea against Fulham.
Sterling was fouled in the box by Issa Diop, and the penalty was converted by Cole Palmer.
It is the 26th penalty Sterling has earned over the course of his career.
Mauricio Pochettino joked that Sterling has learned the instinct to win penalties from his new coach.
“We work on that,” Pochettino said of Sterling’s penalty-winning prowess.
“It’s good for the team. Today was a good action and good performance to provide the team the penalty and then Palmer’s execution was excellent. I am so happy because he [Sterling] provides the team with good things and helped to achieve the three points today that we needed to be in a better position in the table.”
