Good News as two key players set to return to Chelsea squad tomorrow, bringing good news
Mauricio Pochettino delivered some bad injury news in his press conference today about Christopher Nkunku, but at least had some positive notes to go with it. He named two injured players who would be able to return to the squad tomorrow:
“Good news about [Ben] Chilwell and Ben [Badiashile] and we need to assess Carney Chukwuemeka to see if he’s available. But Chilwell and Badiashile will for sure be involved in the squad tomorrow.”
We don’t expect either to start, it would be an unnecessary risk, but appearances off the bench aren’t out of the question at all.
The key is to get them up to speed in the next couple of games and then keep them there for the rest of the season.
Both are potentially the best player available in their respective positions, although they’ve each missed so much time in the last year that it’s hard to imagine them getting up to speed for a while. They also provide vital depth to Pochettino, who will finally actually have some decisions to make in defence rather than just picking the only fit players and going with that.
