Chelsea’s potential January sale looms as a £25m player regains fitness

As part of his injury update today, Mauricio Pochettino revealed that Trevoh Chalobah is back in training again.

“There is also good news to report that Trevoh Chalobah is now training with the team,” the coach said.

“He is starting to work and is getting closer. For now, we have to assess him day by day and see where he can help us but it is a good signal that Trevoh is working with the team.”

That’s good news for everyone really, as the transfer he needs to get his career back on track has already been pending for a year now. Any more delays would be really damaging. He wants to play, and Chelsea need the £25m (claimed by TeamTalk) cash injection from selling an academy player.

You certainly wouldn’t want to throw him into a match anytime soon after such a long and uncertain spell out, but he will now be fit enough to at least pass a medical and show a potential new team that this injury is behind him.

The bad news is that Bayern Munich, the team who wanted him most, have made their move in his absence and picked up Eric Dier.

Potential destinations for Trevoh are much less clear now – but we’re sure the club has been working on it.
