Chelsea dismisses £86m striker links as pure fantasy, emphasizing the need for immediate solutions
The longer Chelsea’s struggles continue the more outrageous the fantasies of the fans.
Every passing week where we fail to look like a cohesive attacking unit prompts further dreams of exotic players coming in and changing our fortunes, and what could be more tempting than a technically brilliant Argentine striker who has banged them in in Serie A for years?
We’ve been linked with Lautaro Martinez many times before, and today the chatter continues. Apparently he would be available for £86m. Dean Jones claims he’s one of our targets for January.
The problem is that there’s no way he will come to us now. He’s in the middle of a convincing title charge with Inter Milan, while we’re stuck in mid table.
Money talks, that’s for sure. But he can wait until the summer and get just as much money from someone.
Fans need to stop dreaming and get realistic about what can actually be done in the next 20 days to help improve our prosects this season.
