Former Chelsea star points out one big problem with Mauricio Pochettino team

Former Blue points out one big problem the team has

Tony Cascarino has called on the young players at Chelsea to step up their game to a level that would be fitting for the reputation of the club.

The Blues are currently ranked 10th on the Premier League table after 20 games.

It does seem a bit of an improvement from 12th, where they finished last season, but when you consider that the club has actually spent well over £1bn to sign new players in the last one year, it leaves one with more questions than answers.

Aside from their problems in attack, Chelsea have also shipped in a lot of goals this season, having kept just four clean sheets in the league.

Cascarino highlighted this issue while speaking on talkSPORT on Sunday morning, before he went on to ask the players to do better.

While discussing Chelsea’s defending this season, the pundit said: “They give away goals, defensively they’ve been poor. Look, Thiago Silva is still Chelsea’s best defender and he’s 39 years old.

“Some of the younger players now have got to show that they’re ready to wear the Chelsea shirt and show the experience and stature to be a Chelsea player because this club has had a lot of success over the last couple of decades.”

Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Malo Gusto, and Marc Cucurella are some of the defenders Chelsea have spent money on in recent transfer windows, although injuries have hampered their involvement with the team more often than not.
