£14m backup signing’s prospects extended further following concerning update on primary choice
Mauricio Pochettino’s press conference yesterday was full of interesting updates – somewhat inevitably when you consider how many injuries there are at the moment.
One player we haven’t heard much about in terms of his medical issues is Robert Sanchez. Initially it looked like quite a minor problem, but as has happened with a number of players this season, we’ve heard very little, and the updates are invariably negative.
We thought he’d be back by now – instead we got the eyebrow raising news from Pochettino that the goalkeeper was going to have a scan to find out how long the knee issue will keep him out.
The shred of good news from what the coach said was that surgery wasn’t going to be necessary.
But players don’t get scans if they’re expected back soon. It looks like Djordje Petrovic, signed for £15m last summer (Sky Sports) is going to be keeping the gloves a while longer.
