No offers for an 11-goal striker to join Chelsea after owner’s comments
Yesterday links to a new striker emerged, with Girona’s Artem Dovbyk mentioned in a few places.
He’s 26 and hardly a world beater, but he’s experienced with an eye for goal (he has 11 this season) and could be a solid affordable stop gap for us.
Hours after that, Girona won a stunning 4-3 victory over Atletico Madrid to stay level with Real Madrid at the top of the table, pulling further clear of the chasing pack.
With half the season gone, they genuinely are in a title race now, and it’s hard to see Chelsea persuading them to sell an important player now. Even from Dovbyk’s point of view, leaving Girona on the cusp of glory to join Chelsea in mid table seems a silly move.
The Catalan club’s co-owner, Pere Guardiola, spoke to the media today and made it very clear that no sale would be happening:
“There are no offers [from Chelsea]. They are rumours, all of them. We don’t have offers for anyone. We have no intention of selling anyone either”
That should end that chapter, at least until the summer…
