Pochettino must start three Chelsea youngsters in the FA Cup on Saturday
Mauricio Pochettino has got a rare opportunity next weekend to rotate his squad as they prepare to begin their journey in the FA Cup.
Traditionally a competition the Blues excel in, last year saw them go out at this stage for the first time since the turn of the century at the hands of eventual winners Manchester City.
This year they are preparing to face Preston North End, and with lower-league opposition comes the chance to rotate their squad.
Here are three youngsters that the manager should absolutely look to when it comes to the FA Cup this weekend.
The cult hero of the last two games, Gilchrist has been handed his Premier League debut recently in some seriously pressurised moments.
Both times he has been brought on with the Blues holding on to a lead, and it has been impressive that he has shown leadership as well as defensive ability in his brief minutes on the pitch.
It is clear to see that he has the manager’s backing in key moments, and could definitely be one of the leaders on the pitch.
Another player who is reportedly a favourite at the club is Castledine, shown by the fact the club are poised to extend his contract at the club.
After a number of training sessions now with the first team, it was claimed that he could well make his first appearance for the club in the Premier League earlier this season.
Castledine should be one of the first names on the teamsheet at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
One of the youngsters signed for big money, Washington has been doing most of his good work for the youth sides at Cobham.
However, there is plenty of faith surrounding the young striker’s future in the game, and a top-tier loan spell is likely in his future.
Before that is possible though, he should be given a proper chance to show what he can do with his debut appearance in the FA Cup on Saturday.
