Get rid of Chelsea flops: Morrison tells Pochettino after 2-0 Everton defeat

Clinton Morrison has told Mauricio Pochettino to ‘get rid’ of underperforming Chelsea stars after their 2-0 defeat at Everton.

The Blues put in a disaster of a performance as they lost at Goodison Park, a result which sees them fall to 12th in the Premier League table.

Marc Cucurella, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson were particularly poor, as was goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic after Robert Sanchez was forced off with injury.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin grabbed the goals for Everton as Morrison watched the match for Sky Sports.

‘There’s six players ahead of the ball but no legs in midfield that can get back,’ Morrison said.

‘Dwight McNeil goes past [Conor] Gallagher like he’s not there – he should foul him. He plays a great ball to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

‘The save from Robert Sanchez is outstanding, but then it comes to Abdoulaye Doucoure. He drills it into the bottom corner – a fantastic goal, brilliant.

‘But the Chelsea players are nowhere near him, nowhere near. We talk about Pochettino and the big job he’s got there. There’s a lot of players they’ve signed that they’ve got to get rid of.’

Chelsea have spent over £1 billion on players since Todd Boehly replaced Roman Abramovich in May 2022.

But Pochettino wants fresh investment and hinted that the west Londoners will be active in the January transfer market after the defeat to Everton.
