Chelsea women made history with an incredible UK record-breaking win against Liverpool
Breaking News – Chelsea women achieved an amazing UK record in their win against Liverpool
Chelsea’s win over Liverpool in the Women’s Super League on Saturday
The Blues smashed the Reds 5-1, and fans watching broke a big record.
The average viewership through the 90 minutes was 796k, the highest ever for a WSL match. The existing record was only set in October, showing how fast interest is growing at the moment. We could yet see it broken again before the end of this season. The game against Arsenal on 10th December looks a good bet.
The peak audience for the game, which was shown on the BBC, was 955,000.
We love to see this – the women’s team have been a model for the men in recent years as they’ve kept standards high and kept the trophies coming in, even as the men have struggled through managers, seasons and suffered under the new ownership.
Let’s hope this success carries on even one legendary Women’s team boss Emma Hayes leaves at the end of the season.
