Sterling’s stats impress, but they don’t fully grasp his impact

We all know what it’s like to be on the end of a truly dangerous Raheem Sterling performance – he produced plenty of them against Chelsea.

This time, it was Man City’s turn to suffer. It was the textbook Sterling showing – on the one hand he’s so full of slightly frustrating bad touches and clumsy passes at just the wrong moment – but his overall contribution is simply huge, and more than makes up for the imperfections.

Just look at his stats from the game – he had more ball recoveries than anyone, he had more successful take ons, won more duels, and earned more fouls than anyone else.

Even that doesn’t quite sum up the way he caused constant danger, pulling Kyle Walker all over and tearing apart City’s lines throughout the game. When he’s in this kind of form, he really is unstoppable, and we hope he can keep it up.
