Southgate’s England squad sees changes with two Chelsea starters joining the team

The latest England squad has been announced, and there are some interesting players both in and out for Chelsea.

Levi Colwill and Conor Gallagher are both included, which is what you’d expect. They’ve been playing regularly and playing well for Chelsea, and Gareth Southgate likes them a lot. We expect each to get some good minutes for the Three Lions in this fortnight.

Then there are those left out – Cole Palmer hasn’t been given a chance, although Southgate praised him and his progress in the announcement press conference. Raheem Sterling is the most controversial, missing out despite having put in some good performances since the last international period.

Back then Southgate insisted that the winger would be able to earn his place back with some good performances, but he’s been left out again, and it’s starting to seem like his England career may be over.

England are playing well and getting good results and the moment, and as the manager says, to include Sterling (or Palmer) he will have to leave someone else out.
