The Nicolas Jackson controversy escalates as Pochettino is compelled to take action due to limited options.

Chelsea fans online are currently debating whether they want Nicolas Jackson in the starting XI against Manchester City this weekend.

There are some saying they’ve seen enough, and they want some kind of false 9 system implemented. There are others replying, quite reasonably, that this is a player who scored a hattrick on Monday night (regardless of the circumstances), and the idea of dropping him is preposterous.

For what it’s worth, for all of his struggles, we can’t imagine Mauricio Pochettino doing anything other than picking Jackson at the weekend. No matter what you think about his long term future, he’s the best we’ve got leading the line until we’ve got Christopher Nkunku or Armando Broja fit and firing.

Yes he could have done better, yes he’s frustrating and yes he may not be the man for us beyond this season, but right now we’ll need someone to cause trouble to an otherwise rock solid City back line.
