Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is hoping to get a strong connection with Chelsea fans but knows the club need sustained success to do so.

And that is exactly what he is working towards right now, a sustained success at the club.

Hopefully a good start to that would be tonight when he returns to his former club Tottenham. Going there and getting a win will go a long way to helping get more Chelsea fans firmly behind him.

The media are doing their utmost to turn more and more Chelsea fans on Pochettino with their out of context headlines and quotes all weekend. But Pochettino knows that to earn the love, trust, and entire support of the Chelsea fanbase then he must win games and sustain that.

In words cited by The Evening Standard, Pochettino admits only success would allow him to replicate the love he had from fans at Chelsea to the level it was at Spurs.

“After four months? I cannot lie [it is not the same feeling from the fans],” he added. “I hope we can arrive on the same level that I had at Tottenham. Because then it would mean we are doing really well here.

“Of course, I expect one day to be on the same level but I cannot lie, at the moment, no. It is a tough situation.”
