Chelsea player ecstatic after a successful evening at Stamford Bridge, expressing pure joy and happiness
It certainly wasn’t vintage Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last night, but seeing how things have been going of late, it was a positive night in London for The Blues.
Stamford Bridge has been far from the fortress that it used to be during Chelsea’s triumphant years. They have really been struggling to beat teams at home recently.
But last night, they beat Blackburn Rovers, who could have easily provided a banana skin to slip on, 2-0 in The League Cup to go through to the quarter finals.
It was also a positive night for two other reasons, and that was the return to the starting lineup for two long term absentees, captain Reece James and centre back Benoit Badiashile.
They both came through unscathed, and it was Badiashile who actually scored Chelsea’s opening goal and set them on their wat to get the win!
He arrived perfectly to slot home from inside the box after a corner was not dealt with by Blackburn, and he was thriving after the game!
In words cited by The Chelsea website, Badiashile said: “I’m so happy to be able to help the team with this goal. It has been a difficult period for me because I’ve not been on the pitch, but I’m very happy to now be back with the team.
“When you lose a game, you have a bad feeling. But as players, you have to be focused on the next game.
“A win is always something great for the feeling [of the team]. It was a tough game but we got the win. That is what’s most important.”
