Carabao Cup quarter final draw – Chelsea get tough quarter final draw
Chelsea have drawn Newcastle in the Carabao Cup quarter final tonight, after beating Blackburn 2-0.
The good news is that it’s at Stamford Bridge, although that hasn’t been much use of late.
Newcastle knocked holder Man Utd tonight with a mighty 3-0 win as their increasingly impressive rise to the top goes on. If they play anything like they did tonight – and we play anything like we did tonight – we don’t stand much of a chance.
They look like a team which is making the most of its talent, whereas we are a team constantly adding new parts before the old ones are working yet.
This competition is a great chance to try out some of those new parts, especially given we’re not in Europe, so it seems unfortunate that we’re going out after the next 90 minutes. We also play the Magpies in the league next week, so a bit of tension might yet be added.
