Good New as Chelsea’s new attacking star leads playmaking stats
Chelsea’s creativity stats have been good for most of this season, it’s just been their finishing that’s let them down for long spells.
A look at the players with the best “shot creating actions” per minute played show a few players really excelling. FBRef have Cole Palmer top of the pile, with almost 5 shot creating actions per game. That’s a great number, and reflects what we see on the pitch, where he’s really revolutionised our game in the final third since coming into the team.
Second is Raheem Sterling, closer to 4 per game, closely followed by Enzo Fernandez. Both of them look set to be vital in creating chances for others going forward – although they both need to find the net regularly themselves too.
The interesting name in the top 5 is Ian Maatsen, who has played just 89 minutes but was very effective in that time on the pitch. Perhaps he has earned another shot at some minutes?
