Chelsea predicted XI vs Brentford: Mauricio Pochettino drops £50m man who starred against Arsenal
The foundations are certainly there for Mauricio Pochettino to build on after Chelsea’s last match against Arsenal.
Despite not picking up all three points from a priceless position, the performance will have encouraged the Argentine as he looks ahead to the next game.
It is another London derby at Stamford Bridge on the horizon, as Chelsea get Saturday’s action underway with the visit of Brentford.
Here’s The Chelsea Chronicle’s predicted XI for the visit of the Bees at the weekend.
GK and Defence
Despite his error and all-round tough outing against Arsenal, Robert Sanchez will retain the backing of his manager and start.
Managing Reece James’ return is essential, and this will see Malo Gusto remain in the starting side for this week at least.
With another week between games, Thiago Silva will start at the back for the 10th consecutive league game.
He will be joined by Levi Colwill again, who looked comfortable back in the middle of defence.
Marc Cucurella will be rewarded for another strong performance with a start on the left.
The positions that seem to pick themselves right now, a refreshed Moises Caicedo will continue in the middle of the park.
Also returning last week from South American international duty, Enzo Fernandez will start yet again.
Just ahead of them, arguably the most impressive player of the season, Conor Gallagher, will captain the side.
Cole Palmer, fresh off two goals in as many games, will start for the Blues on the right, as apposed to his unique Number 10 role against Arsenal.
The other wing will be occupied by Mykhailo Mudryk, who is looking more and more like the player Chelsea signed every single week.
Nicolas Jackson will return to the side as a recognised striker, which will see Raheem Sterling drop to the bench despite impressing against Arsenal.
