Breaking News as Pep Guardiola pushing Manchester City to sign this Chelsea star in January
According to The Express, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is keen on signing Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen in January.
Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Maatsen during the January transfer window if the left-back doesn’t sign a new Chelsea contract.
Maatsen returned to Chelsea in the summer following a successful loan spell at Burnley but he is yet to start a Premier League game for Chelsea this season.
He almost left late in the summer window after Chelsea accepted an offer from Burnley of £31.5million but the Dutchman decided to stay and fight for his place.
Chelsea have activated a one-year clause in Maatsen’s contract to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2025 but are open to selling if he doesn’t sign a new Chelsea contract.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer of the 21 year old left-back and has urged the Manchester City board to sign the Chelsea player in January.
Maatsen would provide a different option at left-back to what City have been used to of late. Guardiola has often deployed a left-footed centre-back in that position, with Nathan Ake or Josko Gvardiol mostly sharing responsibilities.
