Liverpool remain interested in Marc Guehi, but they’re not willing to be strong-armed into accepting Crystal Palace’s demands.

In the meantime, the club is exploring other market alternatives — with Ajax’s highly-rated left-footed defender Jorrel Hato reportedly among the names being considered.

At 24, Marc Guehi falls just outside of Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes’ ideal age bracket, but the Crystal Palace captain could still be considered a worthy exception.

Liverpool are in clear need of a new centre-back this summer. While the club’s cautious approach in the transfer market has paid off in the past—especially under Jurgen Klopp—this is an area that can’t be overlooked.

Over the past year, he averaged 51.93 passes per 90 minutes with an 83.5% completion rate—lower than Konate’s 62.64 passes and 90.4% accuracy, but stats that could rise in a more dominant side like Liverpool.

Perhaps even more appealing is Guehi’s durability. Since the 2020/21 season, he has only missed 13 matches through injury, all of which came during the 2023/24 campaign—demonstrating a level of fitness and consistency that would be a valuable asset at Anfield.
