🛑 Deal on Ice: Liverpool Slam Brakes on £50M Move for Defensive Ace! ❌

💰 Liverpool Balk at Hefty £50M Price Tag for 24-Year-Old Sensation!

Liverpool are actively seeking a new central defender this summer amid Jarrel Quansah’s anticipated switch to Bayer Leverkusen. However, their chase for a top target has hit a roadblock, with negotiations stalling over a valuation dispute.

Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi has long been on Liverpool’s radar. The 24-year-old, whose contract runs until 2026, is widely expected to depart Selhurst Park in this window. While his preference reportedly leans toward joining the Premier League champions over Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle, all of whom are circling, a deal remains in limbo.

At present, Liverpool are hesitant to accelerate talks for Guehi—citing the steep asking price as a major sticking point.

🚨 Liverpool’s Marc Guehi Push Hits Snag Amid Price Dispute

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are dissatisfied with Crystal Palace’s valuation of Marc Guehi. The FA Cup champions have priced their captain between £45-50 million, a figure the Reds view as excessive. Liverpool believe the fee should be much lower, especially given that Guehi could be available on a free transfer in just 12 months.

Reports suggest that if Liverpool abandon their pursuit of Marc Guehi, they’ll shift focus to a younger centre-back in the 18–22 age range—an approach favoured by sporting director Richard Hughes. Ajax’s Jorrel Hato is among the names on their radar.

Liverpool’s reluctance to meet Crystal Palace’s demands for Guehi has opened the door for clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle, while Arsenal appear to have turned their attention to Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera. For now, all eyes are on whether Hughes will explore alternative defensive options, though Palace remain firm despite the growing interest.
