“Unveiled: Bissouma’s Key Role in Tottenham’s Stunning Triumph Over Bodo/Glimt”

“Revealed: Bissouma’s Bold Verdict as Tottenham Shock Bodo/Glimt”

Former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett has shared his opinion on Brennan Johnson’s goal for Tottenham during their Europa League match against Bodo/Glimt. Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Hackett stated that Yves Bissouma’s challenge on Ole Blomberg in the buildup was not significant enough to warrant disallowing the goal.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is widely expected to depart the club at the end of the season, even if they claim the Europa League title. Despite this, the team remains eager to win the trophy, aiming to salvage a disappointing season, end their long trophy drought, and secure Champions League qualification.

Tottenham got off to an ideal start in their quest as they faced the Norwegian side on Thursday night (1 May).

Brennan Johnson Scores Early in Europa League Clash
In under 40 seconds, the hosts took the lead as Brennan Johnson extended his impressive campaign for Tottenham.

Yves Bissouma regained possession on the right wing with a strong 50-50 challenge that left his opponent on the ground. He then delivered an excellent cross into the Bodo/Glimt penalty area, where Richarlison headed it across goal. Brennan Johnson was perfectly positioned to head the ball past goalkeeper Nikita Haikin at the back post, giving Tottenham an early 1-0 advantage.

However, the goal underwent a VAR review to assess whether Bissouma’s challenge on Ole Blomberg, which led to Tottenham regaining the ball, constituted a foul.

Hackett maintains that allowing the goal to stand was the correct decision, arguing that the contact was insufficient to be deemed a foul.

‘Tottenham Goal Correctly Allowed’ – Keith Hackett
When asked by Football Insider whether VAR was right not to overturn Tottenham’s opener, the former referee stated:

“I’m pleased the goal stood; I didn’t see a clear push. Football is a contact sport, and the referee made the right call to allow it.”

Tottenham’s fortunes improved further when James Maddison scored in the 34th minute, giving Postecoglou’s team a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.
