“The Surprising Reason Jamie Carragher Missed Liverpool’s Premier League Victory at Anfield”

“Why Jamie Carragher Was Absent from Anfield to Witness Liverpool’s Premier League Triumph”

The former Liverpool defender was noticeably absent during the Reds’ title celebrations.

Liverpool secured their 20th English top-flight title on Sunday, but to many people’s surprise, Jamie Carragher was absent from the celebrations.

Carragher, 47, is a legendary figure at Liverpool, ranking second on the club’s all-time appearance list behind Ian Callaghan. Despite winning two FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Cup, and a Champions League title, the Premier League was the only major trophy that eluded him during his playing career.

Now a regular fixture on Sky Sports’ Premier League coverage and CBS’ Champions League broadcasts, Carragher’s absence from the Anfield celebrations on April 27 raised eyebrows among fans.

Typically, the 47-year-old would openly show his support during such moments, but this time, he was not present for the joyous occasion in L4.

So, what kept Carragher away from Anfield on Sunday?

It seems that Carragher was at the London Marathon on Sunday, based on his recent social media posts. His wife, Nicola, was participating in the race, and with her completion of the London Marathon, she has now finished all six Abbott World Marathon Majors, including those in Boston, Tokyo, Berlin, New York, and Chicago.

Despite his absence from Anfield, Jamie did share his thoughts in a column for The Telegraph.

Carragher wrote: “This is an achievement they must momentarily share with Manchester United, as both clubs now stand tied at 20-20. However, there is great symbolic significance in Slot erasing United’s lead, a lead that was built on the brilliance of Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Slot’s immediate success ends any debate about which club is England’s most successful. When you factor in Anfield’s six European Cups alongside the league titles, the final argument Old Trafford clung to has been completely wiped out.”

He continued: “[Arne Slot] has earned his place in Anfield legend by leveling the playing field with Ferguson. He’ll be on the number 20 open-top bus for the parade. Once the celebrations die down, all attention will shift to the race for number 21.”
