“Darwin Núñez Deletes Explosive Post Casting Doubt on Slot’s Integrity”

“Darwin Núñez Swiftly Erases Controversial Post Challenging Slot’s Credibility”

Liverpool is closing in on the Premier League title, but not everyone appears to be celebrating—Darwin Núñez, in particular, seems dissatisfied.

Once again, the No. 9 has expressed frustration on social media, only to delete his post shortly after, but not before many fans saw it.

On Saturday morning, Núñez posted a cryptic message (translated): “No wonder I didn’t play more, because the last game I started in the Premier League went well and suddenly…”

This comment seems to hint at reports from Portugal suggesting that Liverpool would owe Benfica €5 million if Núñez makes his 50th Premier League start—he’s currently at 49.

Even Arne Slot addressed the speculation during a pre-Tottenham press conference, stating, “Do you always believe what journalists say? Sometimes you should, but sometimes it’s better not to believe everything written about players.”

The Uruguayan forward now seems to believe he’s being benched for the club’s financial benefit.

The 25-year-old’s most recent start came in the match against Southampton, where he opened the scoring in a 3-1 comeback victory.

Following that game, which preceded the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain and the Carabao Cup final, Arne Slot seemingly opted to leave the former Benfica striker out of the starting lineup.

While it remains unclear if financial considerations influenced Núñez’s exclusion, Slot has firmly stated that he has never been directed on which players to select.

By posting such a message, Núñez may appear to question his manager’s integrity and imply that Slot’s comments during the press conference were untrue.

For a player on the brink of participating in a title-clinching match, this move is puzzling and could signal a rocky future for Núñez at Anfield.

The deleted post was briefly visible on Núñez’s X account.
