“Jamie Carragher Calls on Arne Slot to Take Drastic Action with Trent Alexander-Arnold After Spectacular Leicester Goal”
“Jamie Carragher Urges Arne Slot to Make Bold Move with Trent Alexander-Arnold After Stunning Goal Against Leicester”
The ex-Liverpool defender shared his thoughts on Alexander-Arnold’s situation during his appearance on Sky Sports.
Jamie Carragher has suggested that Liverpool manager Arne Slot take a tough stance with Trent Alexander-Arnold following his decisive goal against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, secured Liverpool’s 1-0 victory with a brilliant left-footed strike, edging the Reds closer to their inevitable 20th Premier League title.
The right-back, who came on in the second half, celebrated emotionally, running to the Liverpool supporters and removing his shirt after his goal.
When asked post-match on Sky Sports about his future at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold remained tight-lipped, saying: “As I’ve said all season, I’m not going to discuss my situation or go into details. Days like today—scoring goals, winning games, being in title races—are special moments that will stay with me forever. I’m just happy to be part of them.”
Alexander-Arnold expressed his gratitude, saying: “Scoring in front of the fans is always a special moment. While we play for ourselves and our families, we also do it for the supporters. They invest so much—traveling to games and spending their hard-earned money—so the least we can do is give 100% on the pitch and win for them.
“To be so close to another league title, for some of us a second and for others a first, especially with fans present again, is incredible. Virgil made sure I was at the front to take it all in and connect with the supporters. They’ve been outstanding this season, pushing us every minute of every game, and they did it again today to help us secure the win.”
However, Jamie Carragher offered a blunt opinion on what manager Arne Slot should do regarding the England international.
Speaking on Sky Sports after Liverpool’s win, Carragher stated: “If Trent hasn’t fully committed to the manager for next season, then he shouldn’t be starting games.”
Micah Richards quickly chimed in, suggesting, “Perhaps not as a farewell gesture for him… but rather thinking ahead and planning for next season.”
Carragher remarked, “Liverpool is not a football club that focuses on giving players send-offs.”
Richards countered, saying, “They’re about to win the league after so long, and he’s been a crucial part of that journey. I understand your point about planning for next season, I really do. But considering everything he’s done for the club—having been here since he was a boy—it wouldn’t hurt to give him a few more appearances as a way of saying, ‘well done.’”
