“Title Dreams Intact!” – Mikel Arteta Vows Arsenal Will Fight to Deny Liverpool’s Celebration This Sunday

“Not on Our Watch!” – Mikel Arteta Declares Arsenal Won’t Hand Liverpool the Title This Sunday

Mikel Arteta remains defiant as Arsenal clings to a slim mathematical chance of halting Liverpool’s march to the Premier League title.

The title race could officially conclude on Easter Sunday if Arsenal falls to Ipswich and Liverpool secures a win over Leicester, creating an insurmountable 16-point gap with just five games left in the season. Even if Arsenal triumphs tomorrow, a midweek loss to Crystal Palace or a Liverpool victory over Tottenham next weekend would still seal the deal—assuming Jurgen Klopp’s men claim three points at the King Power Stadium.

Determined to postpone Liverpool’s celebrations, Arteta has pledged that Arsenal won’t make it easy for their rivals. Speaking to The Independent, the Gunners’ boss declared, “We will ensure we win against Ipswich so that [Liverpool winning the league] does not happen.” Meanwhile, Ipswich faces its own daunting battle to avoid relegation back to the Championship.

Arteta Clings to Faint Hopes as Liverpool Near Their 20th Title

While Mikel Arteta publicly insists that Arsenal will fight until the title is mathematically out of reach, it’s clear their focus has shifted to securing Champions League qualification. Deep down, the Spaniard must realize that Liverpool’s grip on their 20th league crown is nearly unbreakable.

Even if Arsenal secures back-to-back wins this week, Liverpool only needs to match their closest challengers’ points tally over the next two games to seal the deal. Conor Bradley’s excitement at the prospect of becoming a Premier League champion is palpable, while Dominik Szoboszlai seems unfazed by Arsenal’s remaining efforts.

Arteta is likely dreading the prospect of his team giving Liverpool a guard of honour at Anfield on May 11, a scenario reminiscent of the 2019/20 season when the Gunners had to do the same after the Reds clinched the title.

Liverpool, however, cannot afford complacency. Last weekend’s scare against West Ham should serve as a cautionary tale ahead of their clash with Leicester. Despite the Foxes being on the brink of relegation—a fate that could be confirmed by kickoff if results elsewhere go against them—Liverpool must remain professional and finish the job.

With the title now firmly in their hands, the Reds will be eager to eliminate any lingering doubts and cement their place in history as quickly as possible.
